action

season 1

The series, which was created without a script, gives a detailed insight into the everyday life of the then 43-year-old advertising seller Kody Brown, his wives Meri (39), Janelle (40) and Christine (37) and their 12 children, 7 of whom are daughters. The family home has three apartments connected by doors. Kody is wooing future fourth wife Robyn Sullivan, 31, who already has two daughters and a son and is expanding the Brown family after 16 years. All women except Janelle grew up in polygamous families. The new relationship creates insecurity and jealousy among the other three women, who ultimately accept her and take Robyn into the family. In the fourth episode of the season, Christine gives birth to her sixth child, Truely , which increases the family to 16 children. Kody and Meri are spending their 20th wedding anniversary in Mexico discussing their situation. Meri rejects Kody's proposal for in vitro fertilization , as she only wants natural conception. During the wedding preparations, jealousy- related tensions arise with Christine . The season ends with Kody and Robyn's wedding. Meri, Janelle and Christine take her in as the fourth woman in the family and give her a Claddagh ring .

season 2

Season two begins with the Browns appearing in New York to appear openly as polygamists on national television for the first time while the children attend their first day of public school at home. When asked how intimate the marriage is , Christine replied "We have a schedule". (We have a schedule). In the coming episodes, the Browns visit various friends and relatives and see how their relationships with these people have changed since they were open about their polygamy. Kody's parents (also polygamists), Kody's high school boyfriend and various monogamous couples now meet Kody's other wives. Episode 4 shows Kody and Janelle's camping trip on the occasion of their anniversary, preparation for and participation in Halloween. The Browns celebrate Christmas in a snow-covered mountain hut. This season features Meri's personal struggle with her risk of cancer and the loss of her sister. In episode 5, Kody, Christine and their children take a trip to Las Vegas, which, as we learn later, marks the beginning of the Browns' subsequent move to Las Vegas. The following episodes show the Browns' search for a suitable home in Las Vegas. They tell the children that they are going to move. Robyn announces that she is expecting her first child from Kody.

At the start after the summer break, Robyn announces the gender of her unborn child. Due to possible investigations against Kody Brown, the family is frightened at the sight of the police. Much revolves around Robyn's pregnancy and getting a foothold in Las Vegas. Eventually the family is accommodated in four houses. On the way, the Browns suffer several breakdowns with their cars, which were not prepared in the hustle and bustle. The abrupt move is reflected in the behavior of the older children. The Browns are looking for a new acquisition that all five adults can participate in. They pave the way for their older children to go to college, and there are opportunities for Meri to get pregnant naturally again. Robyn's son Solomon is born on October 27, 2011 . Nothing further is reported on the Utah investigation against the Browns.

season 3

On March 4, 2012, Robyn Sullivan Brown tweeted that the new season of Sister Wives would start sometime this spring; however, this is not yet entirely certain. The first confirmation from the broadcaster TLC took place on its Facebook page: The start of the season was announced for May 13, 2012 and took place.

The Brown family is spending their first Christmas in Vegas in four rental apartments, making their own Christmas trees and desperately looking for a home for the whole family. To keep each of his four wives happy, Kody does something from the romantic to the fantastic with everyone, such as skiing and paintballing.

In preparations for Kody's birthday, Christine tries to resolve all the problems she has had since Robyn has been in the family. The following is Robyn's reaction to this "brutally honest" conversation. The fourth episode is themed "You ask, the Browns answer". Nothing holds back Kody about the preferences for each of his women. To answer a few questions, Kody sends the children to the room next door. Nesting and infertility: While looking for individual mortgages for four adjoining apartments, Janelle plans to open a gym. Meri explains more about her infertility problems.

background

Brown and his wives said they participated in the show to raise public awareness of polygamous families and to counteract social prejudice. Brown calls his polygamous existence legal because he is officially married to only one woman and the other marriages are spiritual communities. Still, the series was the trigger to make the Brown family the subject of possible prosecution. Because of this, the family moved to the other state. The Brown family has been a member of the Apostolic United Brethren (AUB) Church since April 9, 2011 . Before the series, they kept their “ lifestyle ” as a “quasi-secret” (= open secret) . For example, in the school registration form, they named their children as a further contact person for emergencies, a respective non-biological mother, as a neighbor, sister-in-law, very close friend or something of that kind.
