history

The All Saints Chapel stands on the site of an older palace chapel from the 12th century and was rebuilt between 1263 and 1264. In 1339 Charles IV , also Margrave of Moravia, founded a collegiate monastery here . The current church was built sometime between 1356 and 1383 according to plans by Peter Parler as a two-story, single-nave Gothic structure in the shape of the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. According to the chronicle of Václav Hájek z Libočan , the building was rich in sculptures, decorated with semi-precious stones and had windows with stained glass . The church was badly damaged during the devastating fire of the castle in 1541, almost only the walls remained. Remnants of the original windows were kept in the attic. The church was integrated into the palace through new construction and extensions, and in particular connected with the Ladislaus Hall. The renovations were completed together with those of the palace in 1580 by Elisabeth Isabella, daughter of Emperor Maximilian II . She is probably shown on the altarpiece. In 1588 the bones of St. Procopius were transferred here from the Sázava monastery and in 1598 the entrance was made from the Ladislaus Hall.

The single-nave church consists of a Gothic choir and a Renaissance nave with two aisles. The vault is from 1580; the grave of St. Procopius, originally located in the center of the nave, was moved to the wall in 1768. The interior is baroque, from 1732 and 1750, the choir from 1732 is probably the work of Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer . The baroque organ was brought here from a church in Skapce in 1969 .
