In Latter-day Saints , the Holy of Holies is a room in the Salt Lake Temple . This room is used by the President of the Church . When the President of the Church enters the room, the President acts as High Priest of the Church and as High Priest of Israel . He does this according to the LDS understanding of 2nd Book of Moses . According to the LDS Church, this Holy of Holies is a modern equivalent of the Mishkan of the Jerusalem Temple . This room was also used for the regulation of the Second Determinationto administer. However, every consecrated room in a temple today is used for this.

Location and description

The Holy of Holies is above the celestial space of the Salt Lake Temple . It is described in the Encyclopedia of Mormonism as follows: “After the sliding doors of the room come six steps to similar doors. They symbolize the veil that protected the Holy of Holies in ancient times. The protected space is round and has a vault. The device has processed wood, gold leaf, stained glass and special light. "The room contains a stained glass by Louis Comfort Tiffany , the First Vision of Joseph Smith represents.

There the President of the Church goes in to have a conversation with whoever whose Church is when a difficult decision must be made. The prophet has the keys. The Apostle James E. Talmage reported: “This room is reserved for the higher ordinances of the priesthood. It is used for the exaltation of the living and the dead. "

Joseph Smith reported: "No one can say that he really knows God unless he has been in the Most Holy Place."
