The Allermöher See is a bathing lake near Hamburg - Bergedorf , located in a large green area between the Neu-Allermöhe and Neu-Allermöhe Ost settlements .

The lake was created in 1984 by dredging for gravel extraction for a new building area.

The lake is used as a swimming and fishing lake. In parts it has a near-natural bank with reed zones and bushes. There is a sandy beach on the north bank , in front of which a shallow water zone has been created as a non-swimmer area. The non-swimmer area is marked with white buoys. A bathing platform floats on the lake. On the beach there is a toilet and a shower as well as a climbing frame.

Swimming accidents

On June 5, 2016, another boy drowned at the age of 17.
Late in the afternoon / early evening on June 4, 2016, a 17-year-old boy drowned.
On May 30, 2012, a 14-year-old girl drowned in the early evening. Another young swimmer barely survived.
In 2010 a 23-year-old man drowned and a 13-year-old boy was rescued in the same year.

On October 1, 2014, a memorial stone was inaugurated on the beach. It bears the inscription “In memory of the young people who lost their lives here in swimming accidents” and the request Be vigilant in five languages.

Water supervision

Since May 31, 2015, SiWa - Safe Water e. V. the bathing supervision during the bathing season in good weather between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Since April 7, 2015, there are two containers for water supervision at the lake.

In spring 2012 , the Bergedorf district office had rejected an offer from the DLRG to provide bathing supervision at Allermöher See .
