Alles im Eimer is a card game by Stefan Dorra that was published by Kosmos-Verlag in 2002 . An English edition appeared in the same year under the title "The Bucket King" by Rio Grande Games . In 2005, Kosmos-Verlag also released a new edition with the same gameplay but with a shorter playing time. In 2015, another new edition appeared, in which for the first time small tiles were replaced by 3D plastic buckets, which give the game an additional skill component.

Game content

In the 2002 edition, the game contains

  • 1 set of instructions
  • 90 buckets (18 each in 5 colors)
  • 110 point cards (22 each in 5 colors, values 1 and 8 each twice, values 2 to 7 each three times)

In the new edition of 2005, the material was reduced to 60 buckets and 80 cards (2 each per value and color). In the new edition from 2015, 60 plastic buckets were used for the first time.

Rules of the game

Game objective

The aim of the game is to maintain your own pyramid made of buckets while you try to tear down the opposing bucket pyramids.

preparation

At the beginning each player draws 12 cards from hand. Then he builds a pyramid from 15 buckets in 5 different colors.

procedure

The starting player begins by laying out up to 3 cards of the same color from his hand. Then he draws a card from the deck. The values of the cards played are added together. The next player in clockwise order must now outbid this value by playing his own cards of the same color. A tie does not count as outbidding. If he succeeds, the third player must again outbid the value of the second player's cards.

If a player cannot or does not want to exceed the given card value, he must remove a bucket in the color of the cards on display from his pyramid. The buckets follow gravity, so to speak. If a bucket is removed from the pyramid further down, all buckets above must also be removed. If a pyramid breaks into two parts by removing buckets, one of these parts must also be removed.

Playing

Depending on the number of players, the game ends at different times. With 3 to 4 players the game ends as soon as a player's pyramid has been completely removed. With 5 to 6 players, the game only ends when 2 pyramids have been completely torn down. The winner of the game is always the player whose pyramid still contains the most buckets. In the event of a tie, the corresponding players share the victory.

New edition

In 2005 Alles im Eimer appeared in a new edition in Kosmos-Verlag. There have been some changes compared to the first edition. Instead of 15 buckets, the pyramid is now only built from 10 buckets, which significantly shortens the playing time. In addition, the card values are now evenly distributed. There are only two cards of each suit and each value. A new rule has also been added. In the event that a player does not exceed the given point value, but rather gives the same number of points, the direction of play is changed. In 2014, a new edition of the game was published by Jolly Thinkers Learning Center Ltd. in Hong Kong under the name Alles im Eimer 3D ( Bucket King 3D ). The number of buckets and cards is the same as in the 2005 version, but the end of a 'trick' determines the direction in which the trick is to apply. You have to outbid, the direction does not change in the trick, but you can combine a placed one with any card of any color, whereby a maximum of five cards can be in the trick. Two to four players build 15 pyramids, with 5 and 6 players it is 10.

Awards
