The General musical Gazette was published in the first half of the 19th century music - magazine . It was initially published from 1826 in Frankfurt am Main by “A. Fischer ”and from 1829 to 1840 - later presumably also in a second cycle from 1848 - in Vienna with Tobias Haslinger . The Austrian poet and playwright Ignaz Franz Castelli was also the editor of the paper from 1829 to 1840 .
