Alliance Sociale
The Alliance Sociale is a left-wing coalition alliance in Mauritius that consists of the Labor Party , the Mauritian Party of Xavier-Luc Duval , the Movement Republicain - the Green Way , the Republican Movement and the Mauritian Militant Socialist Movement .
The alliance became the ruling party in July 2005 after the parliamentary election victory over the coalition of the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM) and the Militant Socialist Movement (MSM), which had ruled from 2000 to 2005 .
The current Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam , who held this position between 1995 and 2000, is the chairman of Alliance Sociale . In the elections to the National Assembly in July 2005, it won 38 of the 70 parliamentary seats and in the elections in May 2010 it achieved 41 of the 62 seats.
Other Alliance Sociale leaders include Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Rashid Beebeejaun , who is also Minister for Energy and Public Utility Functions , and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade Arvin Boolell .
