Alluaudia montagnacii is a species of plant in the genus Alluaudia in the Didiereaceae family.

description

Alluaudia montagnacii is similar to Alluaudia ascendens and differs only in its somewhat stronger thorns and in larger lateral panicles of a large number of small, white flowers.

The hemispherical fruits are 2 to 2.5 millimeters in diameter.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = about 240 or about 192.

Distribution and systematics

Alluaudia montagnacii is only very locally distributed and very rare in the southwest of Madagascar .

The first description of alluaudia montagnacii was made in 1961 by Werner Rauh .

It is assumed that this species is a natural hybrid between Alluaudia ascendens and Alluaudia procera .
