Allure (band)
Allure is an American R&B band that was formed in New York .
biography
In 1996 Mariah Carey founded her own record label Crave Records . The first signed band is Allure, consisting of singers Linnie Belcher , Alia Davis , Lalisha McLean and Akissa Mendez .
The band members met in the early 1990s at the New York talent factory La Guardia School of Performing Arts and have been rehearsing together since then, until they received the record deal in 1996. In the same year, work began on their first album, which was called Allure . They received support from well-known artists such as Mary J. Blige , LL Cool J , Mariah Carey and Raekwon .
In the spring of 1997, the first single Head over heels was released in collaboration with Nas , which immediately hit the top 40 of the Billboard charts . Along with For you I will ( Monica ) and Step by step ( Whitney Houston ), this single was the third highest new entry.
The second single followed in late summer, a cover version of the title All cried out by Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam . This time Allure was supported by band 112 . In August 1997, the single rose to number 40 as the highest newcomer and improved to number 4 in the following weeks. All cried out was one of the most successful singles of 1997.
After Mariah Carey dissolved Crave Records , it was almost three years before Allure found a new label and released their second album Sunny Days in 2001 . The single Enjoy yourself was not a commercial success, after which the band was again without a label a short time later. Linnie Belcher left the band in 2002.
In 2004 the band came back as a trio and with the album Chapter III , which was re-released in 2006 as a special edition in Great Britain .
