Hans Finohr
Hans Finohr (born September 5, 1891 in Rynnek , Löbau district (West Prussia) , † November 8, 1966 in Potsdam ) was a German film and theater actor.
life and work
Finohr, who was born in Rynnek in West Prussia , a small community in what was then the district of Löbau , took acting lessons from Hans Peppler and made his debut on a stage in Heiligenbeil in 1919 . This was followed by engagements at theaters in Konigsberg , Gera , Vienna , Mannheim and Leipzig . From 1943 to 1957 he worked as an actor and at times also as a theater director at the Dresden State Theater before he worked as a freelance actor. Guest appearances also took him to West Berlin stages and to Schwerin .
In addition, he was also politically active, for example he was a member of the board of the art union and was a member of the artistic-scientific advisory board in the GDR Ministry of Culture. For his services Finohr was honored on September 1, 1951 by the State Commission for Art Affairs with the title of professor. In 1954 he received the Patriotic Order of Merit .
In addition to his theater work, the artist also played in numerous film and television productions for DEFA and German TV broadcaster (DFF) as a character actor. For example, he embodied the old valet in Kurt Maetzig's Kabale und Liebe or the shipyard clerk Schröder in The Song of the Sailors .
