Alois Czerny

Alois Czerny (born February 6, 1847 in Proßnitz , † April 28, 1917 in Mährisch Trübau ) was a German-Moravian folklorist .

Live and act

Czerny was a teacher by profession and most recently held the position of the civil school director in Mährisch Trübau. He was also the director of the museum there . Together with Franz Spina , he founded the folklore journal Mitteilungen zur Volkskunde des Schönhengster Land in 1905 (later: Mitteilungen zur Volks- und Heimatkunde des Schönhengster Land , MVHSL, a total of 37 volumes were published by 1941). From 1905 until his death he was in charge of it. Czerny was also the first to collect and publish the legends from the area around the beautiful stallion Sprachinsel .
