Alois Schuschnigg

Alois Schuschnigg , from 1898 Alois Edler von Schuschnigg , (born January 15, 1833 in Klagenfurt , † July 4, 1911 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian officer.

Life

Alois Schuschnigg became a regimental cadet in Infantry Regiment No. 38 at the age of 16. As such, he took part in the siege of Venice in 1849 under Field Marshal Radetzky . In 1859 he was transferred to the Imperial and Royal Gendarmerie . There he was appointed commander of the State Gendarmerie Command No. 3 ( Tyrol and Vorarlberg ) in 1893 . In 1898 he was raised to hereditary nobility. In 1901 he was retired as major general .

His son was the officer Artur Schuschnigg (1865–1938).
