Alphonse Louis Nicolas Borrelly
Alphonse Louis Nicolas Borrelly (born December 8, 1842 in Roquemaure near Nîmes , † February 28, 1926 ) was a French astronomer .
Borrelly took up an assistant position at the Marseille Observatory in 1864 . Until 1919 he worked there as a full-time astronomer.
With the comet finder of the observatory, which had an opening width of 182 mm, Borrelly discovered 20 asteroids , 18 comets (including the short-period 19P / Borrelly ) and 6 galaxies , which were recorded in the NGC .
In 1913 he received the Jules Janssen Prize . The asteroid (1539) Borrelly was named in his honor.
