The Italian company Alpi Aviation is a manufacturer of aircraft , helicopters , drones and aircraft kits .
history
Based on experiences with the "Asso" aircraft project in the mid-1990s, a group of amateur aircraft manufacturers built the first microlight aircraft with the model designation "Pioneer 300" in 1998 . With advanced technology such as B. a retractable landing gear, a fuselage made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic and refuelable wings, the aircraft reaches a top speed of 295 km / h. Thanks to the use of carbon fibers and wooden elements, they stayed within the specifications for microlight aircraft. In 1999 the company Alpi Aviation Srl was founded. The company was founded in the province of Pordenone , a historic aerospace center. The first Italian flight school was founded there as early as 1910 . The company could be reached by air from the nearby "La Comina" airfield. The Pioneer 300 production line began with a mix of handcraft and industrial manufacturing. The first order came from Germany in the same year. In 2000, the company began to take part in air shows in the USA in order to draw the attention of the local public to the young company. At the end of the year, plans for the next aircraft, the Pioneer 200, were completed. In 2001, the number of orders for the Pioneer 300 rose steadily and further foreign markets were supplied. The smaller and lighter UL model Pioneer 200 was presented. In 2002 the aircraft yard needed to be rebuilt; the previous capacities were exhausted. Further exports to overseas countries continuously increased sales. In the following years special aerobatic versions (e.g. Pioneer 330) were developed. Internal quality tests and efforts to meet further standards of the most diverse approval authorities around the world required ongoing investments, staff expansion and further qualifications for the employees. A second production site was opened in Croatia . In the same year, the separate development company AARD ( Alpi Aviation Advanced Research Division ) was founded. Unmanned aerial vehicles are developed under their responsibility. In February 2007 the "Strix" drone was presented. It was developed with the support of the Unmanned Technologies Research Institute ( UTRI ) based in Rome and is sold by Selex Galileo , a subsidiary of the Finmeccanica group . The company's first four-seat aircraft, the Pioneer 400, was presented at the Aero aerospace exhibition in Friedrichshafen in April 2009. It is equipped with a retractable landing gear and a Rotax 912 S engine .
