The province of Pordenone (Italian Provincia di Pordenone ) was an Italian province of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region until September 30, 2017 . It had 312,080 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2017) in 50 municipalities on an area of 2178 km².
As in the case of the other three provinces of Friuli-Venezia Giulia ( Gorizia , Trieste and Udine ), which were also abolished as independent institutions, this former province also continues to exist as an administrative district of decentralized state administrations or as a statistical area.
geography
The province bordered the province of Udine to the north and east , and the provinces of Belluno , Treviso and Venice in the Veneto region to the west and south . It was separated from the Province of Udine in 1968.
The provincial area was for the most part in the Friuli plain, smaller parts extended into the foothills and high Alps, namely the Carnic foothills and the associated Friulian Dolomites.
