The Alsterweiler Chapel , also known as the Chapel of the Virgin Mary or Seven Sorrows , is located in Alsterweiler , a district of Maikammer in the Südliche Weinstrasse district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is a listed building .

The chapel is located in the local Alsterweiler Hauptstrasse 5 . It is the starting point of the Maikammer wine trail .
history
The chapel was built in 1845 with a classical hall building. The initiative came from local citizens; accordingly, the construction and interior design had to be financed by donations and foundations. In 1968 the building was also renovated. Since the altarpiece was restored in 1980, the entire building was renovated again in this context.
investment
The chapel contains Gothic panel paintings and the Maikammer altar , which was completed around 1445. Also part of the listed complex is a neighboring mission cross made of sandstone , which, according to its inscription, dates from 1852.
