Old Western Pomerania
Old Western Pomerania , also known as Old Western Pomerania , was the name given to the part of Western Pomerania that came from Sweden to Prussia with the Treaty of Stockholm in 1720 .
The name Altvorpommern was only used for this area after the part of Swedish Pomerania that remained with Sweden in 1720 came to Prussia in 1815 and was then called New Western Pomerania .
While New West Pomerania enjoyed a special legal position in the Prussian state for a certain time after 1815, this was not the case for Old West Pomerania as well as for West Pomerania . However, the Pomeranian Provincial Parliament formed in 1823 was elected separately for New Western Pomerania, Old Western Pomerania and Western Pomerania. While New Western Pomerania received its own municipal parliament from New Western Pomerania and Rügen in 1823, a municipal parliament was formed for Old Western Pomerania together with Upper Pomerania . Both municipal parliaments existed until 1881.
With the gradual loss of Neuvorpommern's special status, the names Neuvorpommern and Altvorpommern became out of use.
