The Old Castle (also called Old Castle in Quecken or Old Castle "am Quecken" ) in Bad Münstereifel in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia is a ring wall as a remnant of a fortification from Carolingian times. The Fliehburg served the population as a place of retreat and to protect the branch monastery of the Prüm Abbey . The fortification from the 9th century is placed under protection as a ground monument .

The Spornburg complex is located northeast of the city center on a mountain spur , the second couch grass, above the Erft valley east of the federal highway 51 at an altitude of 315 to 363 meters. It is 300 m long and 80 m wide, plus the outer works . The facility was built in at least two construction periods. There is a moth in the northeast .

The highest point of which is quarried stone - foundations of a round tower received. A silver coin Ludwig the Pious is said to have been found in it in the 19th century , which has not been preserved. In 1972, parts of the complex were archaeologically examined.
