Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is the sales company for passenger cars of Daimler AG in the United States , based in Dunwoody ( DeKalb County, Georgia ). It is a subsidiary of Daimler AG and today sells Mercedes-Benz and Smart cars as well as Mercedes-Benz vans .
Mercedes-Benz USA was founded in 1965 in order to integrate sales in the most important foreign market into the group. Before that, distribution was taken over by partners. Today, Mercedes-Benz USA is the Daimler Group's second-largest car sales organization in terms of sales. MBUSA acts as a dealer itself (e.g. in Manhattan ), but most car dealerships are authorized dealers .
MBUSA employs around 1400 people and has received several awards from Fortune as a top employer.
In July 2015, the headquarters of MBUSA moved from Montvale to Dunwoody near Atlanta in the US state of Georgia . The move will relocate around 1000 employees to the region or create new jobs there.
Mercedes-Benz USA has been the name sponsor of the Louisiana Superdome since 2011 . In 2015, the company also acquired the naming rights to the New Atlanta Stadium , which opened in 2017 .
