The Old Castle , and Great Burg called, is an Outbound Turmhügelburg (moth) on Kieshecker way in Kittelbach lowlands of the Düsseldorf district Unterrath in North Rhine-Westphalia .
After an intensive clearing period in the first half of the Middle Ages , moths appeared around the royal court . In “Rath” these were on the one hand dependent noble courts, including the “Great Castle”, “Haus Hain”, “Heiligendonk”, the “Volkardey”, the “Kürten”, the “Gather” and the “Hoferhof”. These knight seats later became farms on which tenants lived. In addition to the noble courtyards, free courtyards such as the “Alte Burg” and the “ Ickter Hof ” were created.
Today's Burgstall shows no visible remains.
