The building of the former Holsten Brewery Neumünster is located on Brachenfelder Strasse in Neumünster , in Schleswig-Holstein . Today the building complex is called Alte Holsten Brewery and covers an area of around 20,000 m².

The limited partnership DH Hinselmann & Co, a brewery that has been producing top-fermented brown beer at Großflecken in Neumünster since 1760 , commissioned the construction of the new brewery building to also brew light, bottom-fermented lager here . The foundation stone was laid on March 11, 1874, and the building is mostly made of red brick. A cooling cellar has been located here since 1864. Ice from the nearby swallow meadows was stored in these in winter to cool the beer kegs in summer as well. The cellars are still preserved today under the former workshop, the building on Klaus-Groth Strasse.

In 1922, the DH Hinselmann brewery was taken over by the Holsten brewery . The production facility in Neumünster was badly damaged in the Second World War, but rebuilt after the war. In the 1960s, the Holsten brewery invested again in the plant and so the brewhouse was built in 1965 and the bottle cellar with the automatic filling system in 1968. The brewery had a capacity of around 500,000 hectoliters and up to 90,000 cans of beer could be filled per hour. For economic reasons, the so-called Neumünster branch was closed in 1986 and operations were discontinued in November. The building then stood empty for several years until it was acquired and renovated in 1992 by Uwe Janssen from Westensee .

Today the rooms are rented to service companies and shops, the employment agency maintains the Neumünster career information center here . Art exhibitions are also held in the context of the art stain in the premises of the old factory. The exhibition space extends over several floors with white tiled high walls. This room has retained its original industrial character.
