The Alte Mälzerei is a culture and conference center in Mosbach in the Neckar-Odenwald district . It serves as an event location for the entire district and is used for cultural events, shows and theater guest performances, concerts, slide presentations, trade fairs, comedy performances and is rented to clubs and for private parties.

history

In 1908 the malt house was built by the private brewery Hübner and at that time it was still on the outskirts of the city, which only expanded significantly after the Second World War. Until the 1960s, malt was processed here for beer production. In 1980 the brewery had to close and the building, which is now a listed building, was no longer used until it was renovated at the end of the 1990s. In 1997 the culture and conference center was opened. It replaced the ailing and no longer up-to-date town hall as the main venue of the district town.

The Villa Hübner, located in front of the old malt house, once also belonged to the Hübner brewery

The central building is a historical brick building. The large, divisible hall with the main stage is on the first floor. Here, together with the gallery, there is space for up to 1160 people. The entrances to the foyer are on the right-hand side when looking towards the stage. The large, two-story foyer was added in front of the old building and has a glazed facade and a small balcony above the entrance. In the back of the foyer there is a small bar and the staircase to the second floor with the gallery of the large hall.

In the middle area, a large staircase and elevator lead to the lower foyer level. There you will find the main entrance, the cloakrooms and a restaurant that also serves as a cafeteria for the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Mosbach . The lower foyer extends into the old building. The building is equipped with artists' changing rooms and seminar rooms. The former hop cellar can be used as a party cellar.

The stage in the large theater hall is 12 meters wide, has a size of 137 m², and an additional front stage of 17 m². The hall is equipped with modern stage technology, built-in lighting and sound systems and an elevator with a load capacity of 1800 kg.

Surroundings

A small park was created in front of the old malt house, through which one can get to the building from the city center and from the parking decks. The forecourt and the loading zone can be reached directly by vehicles via a side street. In the immediate vicinity are residential areas, the old town with the pedestrian zone, a large supermarket and the DHBW Mosbach campus.
