Old St. Peter Church

The Old St. Peter Church is a small church in the Upper Palatinate district town of Tirschenreuth in the diocese of Regensburg . Until the end of the 13th century it was the parish church of Tirschenreuth.

The previous church probably already existed around the year 1140. Archaeological excavations confirmed that the current church building was built between the years 1212 and 1250 and is therefore the oldest church building in the city of Tirschenreuth. Parts of this 16 meter long and 8 meter wide building still exist today in the north and south walls.

pulpit

During the late Middle Ages the church got a new chancel and around 1720 it was extended by seven meters to the west. The apostles Peter and Paul are depicted on the neo-Romanesque altar . The church has a neo-baroque pulpit.
