The old Catholic parish church of St. Antonius Abbas is a listed church building in Hau , a district of Bedburg-Hau in the Kleve district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

An Antonius chapel was first mentioned in 1378, which is also the year of its completion; The late Gothic chapel with a single nave and a west tower and five - eighth choir end retained its shape until the late 19th century.

Next to her, an Antonite prefecture was built in 1435 and a monastery was built in 1652. It was later disbanded and canceled. The church has been a parish since 1861. In 1863 the tower, damaged by several lightning strikes, was restored to its medieval shape.

Due to the increase in population in the parish district, the church was extended by Franz Pelzer in 1882 by two aisles to form a hall church. All three naves have ribbed vaults . The attached ships are covered with hipped roofs that extend across the roof of the central nave.

Interior

The crucifixion group with a crucifix from the beginning of the 15th century is remarkable .
