Alteidet is a small coastal village on the Lille Altafjord fjord in the eastern part of the municipality of Kvænangen in Troms og Finnmark in Norway . The village is on the E6 , about 50 km west of the town of Alta and about 10.5 km north of the central town of Burfjord municipality . About 130 people live in the area and there is a hotel. The postal address is “9161 Burfjord” . The place is 8 m above sea level.

Alteidet was an old trading post but was not rebuilt after World War II . The village lies on a wooded isthmus and is close to the two villages of Storeng and Jøkelfjord. The name Alteidet is a combination of “Alta” and “Eidet”, which means, for example, “Isthmus of Eidet” or “Isthmus of Eidet”.
