Røsvik

Ferry port

The road between Fauske and Røsvik was completed in 1932 and is still in use today as the N826 ( Norwegian riksvei 826 ).

In April 1941, a ferry route between Røsvik and Bonåsjøen was opened as part of the then N50 ( Norwegian riksvei 50 ) between Fauske and Narvik . When the road between Straumen and Sommerset , today's E6 , was opened in 1966 , the ferry route was shortened to the route between Sommerset and Bonåsjøen.

From 1964 on there was also a ferry between Røsvik and Nordfold in Steigen . The ferry connection was closed with the opening of the eight-kilometer-long climbing tunnel in 1991.

The ferry terminal and waiting room in Røsvik were proposed for the National Plan for the Preservation of Roads, Bridges and Road-Related Cultural Monuments ( Norwegian Nasjonal verneplan for veger, bruer og vegrelaterte kulturminner ).
