The Altenberg tunnel is a 220 m long railway tunnel at route kilometer 50 of the high-speed line Mannheim – Stuttgart . It is located east of the Bruchsal district of Heidelsheim . The tube accommodates two tracks that can be driven on at 250 km / h.

history

planning

In the planning and construction phase, the structure was in plan approval section 6b of the new line (km 47.775 to 51.085) for which the plan approval procedure was initially initiated in April 1975. On February 20, 1981, a new plan approval procedure was opened. The 68 objections raised were discussed on September 15, 1981 . Following the opinion of the regional council on June 7, 1982, the plan approval decision was issued on September 16, 1982. Three lawsuits were filed against this. The decision became legally effective on October 28, 1985.

The tunnel was planned as early as 1983 with a length of 220 m.

construction

The structure was built using the open construction method. The excavation was then filled up again and the site modeled in its original form and reforested .
