history

In the 18th century, the parish built a churchyard on the area around the parish church of St. Margareta . In 1794 she set up a Baroque crucifixion group there, which the Elector Clemens August had previously erected in Badorf on the Schnorrenberg in front of a chapel . In 1827 the city relocated the cemetery to the Mühlenstraße in front of the city limits for hygienic reasons. The sculpture was also moved. In 1911 the cemetery had become too small. No new burials took place; until 1949 only hereditary burials were permitted. In 1974 the city converted the site into a park, but left some 19th century tombstones.
