The old lighthouse Pagensand-Süd is a small lighthouse that stood on the southern tip of Pagensand from 1934 to 2015 . Since November 21, 2015, it has been erected as a technical monument in the Hamburg Museum Harbor Oevelgönne .
history
The lighthouse was 1934 on a hexagonal and basalt deluded concrete pyramid built. The tower consisted of a 4.5 m high gas tank and the lantern . The unmanned beacon went into trial operation in November 1934 and was finally put into operation in January 1935. With the beginning of the Second World War , many beacons were permanently extinguished in September 1939, including the three beacons on Pagensand.
Pagensand-Süd went back into operation in 1950. The initially black tower with red stripes became a red tower with black rings in 1954 and later a continuous red tower.
When it became known that the old tower would be replaced by a modern beacon, the museum association successfully tried to preserve it. On April 13, 2015, the museum's own floating crane Karl Friedrich Steen lifted the lighthouse from its base and the Hamburg Waterways and Shipping Office erected the new light beam immediately afterwards.
The old tower was then extensively renovated at the Blohm + Voss shipyard and arrived in the museum harbor on October 10, 2015. On November 21, 2015, it was then placed on its final pedestal.
