Alterberg Bridge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Altersbergbrücke is a bridge on the Austrian Tauern Autobahn (A10) in Carinthia . Asfinag's internal name is L 40 .

location

The bridge, which was opened to traffic in 1976 and built by Waagner Biro in 1966 , lies between Spittal an der Drau and Gmünd in Carinthia and spans the Liesertal over a length of 800 m and 60 m height. It is located in the municipality of Trebesing .

Ban 2006

In October 2006, a strong deformation of the steel bridge was noticed. A possible cause is a heavy load, which exceeded the maximum permissible load of the bridge of 140 t by 20 t, was obviously traveling faster than the 20 km / h permissible for it and the accompanying vehicles possibly allowed other trucks to be on the bridge at the same time. However, there are also assumptions that this event was not decisive for the deformation of the motorway bridge, as renovation work had been carried out on it for a long time and the second carriageway was completely removed down to the steel frame. The Tauern Autobahn between Spittal and Gmünd was then closed to all vehicles until December 14, 2006. The traffic was diverted via the Katschberg Straße (B99) directly below , trucks over 7.5 t had to evade a large area via the Pyhrn Autobahn or the Felbertauern tunnel .

General renovation

Originally, the end of the renovation was planned for 2007. The renovation of the Altersberg Bridge was completed in 2011. The road slab in the direction of Salzburg was completely demolished and rebuilt.
