The old prison ( English Old Prison ) is a historic prison in the Namibian capital Windhoek . It was used as such until 1963. A six-story office building was built in his courtyard in 1984 as the headquarters of the Namibia Industrial Development Agency (NIDA; formerly Namibia Development Corporation , NDC).
The prison has been a National Monument since April 1, 1986 .
description
The prison was built in the style of a fortress in 1906/07 . The foundation is made of stones and lime mortar, the walls are made of stones. On the west side there were two low towers for prison guards and kitchens. The prison had 35 single and five communal cells and two isolation cells . There was also a work room, an infirmary and a laundry.
