Old Town Hall (Darmstadt-Arheilgen)
The old town hall is an administrative building in Darmstadt-Arheilgen .
Architecture and history
In 1840 the old town hall was built in place of the abandoned old town hall from 1589. The restrained classicist two-storey building shows the signature of Georg Moller .
The structure is an eaves solid structure with seven axes on a rectangular floor plan. There is a flat hipped roof over the console cornice . The plastered facade is emphasized by flat cornices. The old entrance is framed by pilasters and a roof.
The ground floor was formerly used as a school and teacher's apartment. The top floor was developed as a detention facility . In 1929 a renovation took place. Until 2015 the building housed a police station.
The old town hall was placed under monument protection as a typical example of the architecture of the 1840s in Darmstadt .
