History and architecture
A first town hall, however, was mentioned elsewhere at the end of the 14th century. The stately baroque building was built from 1726 to 1730 according to plans by Michael Spanner as a plastered baroque building with green sandstone surrounds. It is provided with gabled central projections and a coat of arms portal . In the figure niches of the central risalite there are figures of St. Nicholas and Justitia . A special feature is the mighty, two-flight outside staircase made of Rüthener sandstone, marked 1730 . Its design is probably unique in Westphalia . Inside, the wedding room with a groined vault that was later drawn in and the citizens' hall with a beamed ceiling have been preserved. The bell from 1663 is the John de la Paix attributed
