Old school building in Bargau

The old schoolhouse in Bargau in Baden-Württemberg is a building planned by the German architect Ulrich Pohlhammer in 1911, completed in 1913 under the supervision of the Gmünder architect Feifel and is now a listed building. The characteristic, five-axis building with a round tower attached to the side is located at Stauferstraße 5.

The building is a two-and-a-half-story mansard gable house with a hip roof. The protruding staircase, which detaches itself from the building as a tower with a Welsh hood, is striking .

The church, built in 1729, previously stood on the property. For the construction of the school building 53,000 marks had to be paid; the interior work cost an additional 5,000 marks. In the south wall of today's building, the foundation stone from 1729 recalls the baroque church that was demolished in 1912. On this is a vine, the coat of arms of the then Oberstättmeister Franz Joseph Wingert.

Todays use

After the building was no longer used as a primary school in 2007, it was converted into an inn with overnight accommodation in 2011.

The old school building in Bargau is right next to the St. Jakobus Church in Bargau.
