Old town bath St. Johann
The old Stadtbad St. Johann was the municipal bathing establishment of the Saarbrücken district of St. Johann . The monument at Richard-Wagner-Straße 6 was converted into a multi-generation house.

The Stadtbad St. Johann, at that time Kaiser-Friedrich-Bad , was built in 1905/06 to designs by the architects Heinker and Witzschel as a concrete skeleton building with bricks. Between 1925 and 1928 Walther Kruspe expanded the building to include a swimming pool with an expressionist brick facade. After being destroyed in the war, it was rebuilt and rebuilt by the architect Jean Quirin from 1950 to 1954. The architect took over the division as a four-wing complex with an inner courtyard. He erected the building as a concrete structure with clinker cladding and exposed concrete elements. A tower with an arcade was built on the south corner. The large swimming pool was provided with a glass facade and a skylight to allow as much daylight as possible into the bathroom. The artist Fritz Zolnhofer furnished the bathroom with mosaics.
On May 23, 2001 the pool operation was stopped. From this time on, the Stattbad project group tried to found a cultural center in the Stadtbad. So there were a small number of cultural events such as concerts and readings, the director Sandra Leupold staged the baroque opera Scipione affricano by Francesco Cavalli in the empty swimming pool in 2002 . In 2004 elements of the bath were placed under monument protection. Due to the uncertain financial situation, the cultural center project was rejected and the building was sold.
With a budget of 22 million euros, the area of the city pool was converted into a residential complex with 110 units into a multi-generation house. The construction work began in 2013 and ended at the end of 2017. The community center "Mühlenviertel" was opened on November 5th, 2016 as a meeting place for all generations.
