Alvarelhos is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .

Excavations at the Castro de Alvarelhos

Alvarelhos is part of Trofa County in the Porto District . The community had an area of ​​7.3 km² and 3199 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Alvarelhos and Guidões were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Alvarelhos e Guidões . Alvarelhos is the seat of this newly formed community.
