Alvaro Barros-Lemez

Alvaro Barros-Lemez (born December 6, 1945 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † September 24, 2004 ) was a Uruguayan journalist, essayist, lecturer and publisher.

From 1966 to 1994 Barros-Lemez was a lecturer at universities in Uruguay ( Universidad de la República ), Peru, the USA and Venezuela. During the civil-military dictatorship in Uruguay, he was in exile in various countries. In 1981 he obtained a degree in humanities ( Licenciado en Letras ) from the Universidad Central de Venezuela . This was followed in 1984 with a Master of Arts at the US University of Maryland .

For Barros-Lemez, who has been working intensively as a journalist on an international level since 1962 and wrote in this context for example for Época , El Popular , Marcha , Extra and Ya , there are numerous participations in international congresses - for example in Czechoslovakia, Poland, the USA and Venezuela - to book. He was also the founding director of the montevidean publishing house Monte Sexto and worked as such from 1985 to 1995.

In addition to numerous publications in national and international magazines and joint works, Barros-Lemez publications included 29 books by 2003.
