Alvin Rabushka

Alvin Rabushka (born May 15, 1940 in St. Louis ) is an American economist and political scientist who is currently doing research at the Hoover Institution . Alongside Robert E. Hall, he is considered to be the inventor of the flat tax .

Rabushka first studied East Asian Studies at Washington University in St. Louis . In 1962 he did his bachelor's degree there and then went to Hong Kong to learn the Chinese language . He received his Masters degree from Washington University in 1966 and his Ph.D. in political science . From 1968 to 1976 he taught at the University of Rochester , since 1976 he has been researching at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University .

Rabushka works on taxation in the United States and the economic development of the Pacific, Israel, and countries in Central and Eastern Europe, especially Russia.
