Architecture and history

Historic gas pump

The gas station was built in 1938 and was designed by the architect Herbert Puls . The two-story building is covered with a hipped roof. The basement is designed as a brick building, the cantilevered upper floor is designed in half-timbered construction, with the compartments being provided with decorative brickwork . The design of the house thus refers to the local building tradition.

The actual petrol station is located in the western part of the building. The filling station area is spanned by a flat roof protruding far. The building represents an unusual synthesis of factual, functional and historicizing design.

A historic petrol pump that has been preserved in front of the petrol station is remarkable .

In Quedlinburg there is another, listed former petrol station at Kaiser-Otto-Straße 33 , which was converted by the same architect.
