location

The settlement is located north of the historic city center of Quedlinburg. The houses are grouped on three sides around Bosseplatz, a tree-lined park . However, the settlement also includes houses on Bossestrasse, east of the square.

Plant and history

The settlement consists of villas and housing developments that were built between 1900 and 1920. The buildings to the east of the square were built later than the other houses in the style of a garden city . Particularly striking is the school building on the north side of the park, also designated as an individual monument, of today's JPC Heinrich Mette Quedlinburg vocational schools . Other individual monuments of the settlement are the buildings Am heiligen Brunnen 2 , Bossestraße 1 , 6 , 7 , 9 , Brechtstraße 2 , 3 , 4 , 7 , Julius-Wolff-Straße 5, 6 , Lindenstraße 1, 2 and Lindenstraße 4 .

Bosseplatz was created as a green space in front of the school building. A broad middle path leading to the school portal was laid across the green area. Plane trees were planted along the path and on the edges of the green area , which today make up the old trees of the square. Areas for benches were created at the corners of the square. Here were hawthorn and shrubs planted. The design of the square goes back to a decision of July 15, 1910. In the middle of the square, a memorial was erected from boulders for the Prussian Minister of Culture and Quedlinburg native Robert Bosse (1832-1901). A bronze relief was attached to a large central stone. In the period after 1945 the monument was removed.

Today there is a small playground on the east side of the square.
