Amalie Næsby Fick (* 1986 ) is a Danish director . Her short series Sex ran at the Berlinale 2020 in the Berlinale Series section .

Professional background

In 2016 Amalie Næsby Fick graduated from the National Film School in Copenhagen with a degree in directing animation films . Her graduation film, the short film for children Ztriewer , won several prizes, including the prize for the best feature film for children and young people at the CPH PIX film festival in Copenhagen.

In 2017 she told a story of danger, rescue and friendship together with Philip Einstein Lipski and Jørgen Lerdam in the animated film for children The Unbelievable Story of the Giant Pear . In it, lovingly drawn characters experience adventures in imaginative locations without kitschy dramatizations.

Her series debut Sex ran at the Berlinale 2020 . It tells of Catherine, who gives tips on sex and love in a call center , but is herself caught in a chaos of emotions and life: She is torn between her colleague Selma and her friend and partner Simon, who has lost interest in sex . In six twelve-minute episodes, the director created a short-form series that runs on Danish television under the theme "Enlightenment". A second season of Sex is being planned.
