Amalner is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra . The city is located near the border with Madhya Pradesh .

The city is part of the Jalgaon District . Amalner has the status of a Municipal Council and is divided into 33 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census, it had 95,994 inhabitants, of which 49,564 were men and 46,430 women.

Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 77%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 89.84%, well above the national average.

The city of Amalner is part of the Western Railway Division of Indian Railways . The station is on the route from Surat and Bhusawal .
