Amang S. Kanyi

Amang S. Kanyi († September 1968 in the United Kingdom ) was a politician in the West African state of Gambia .

In the parliamentary elections in 1962 Kanyi stood as a candidate for the People's Progressive Party (PPP) in the constituency of Western Kiang ( Kiang West ). He was able to win the constituency unanimously for lack of opposing candidates. In the following elections in April 1966 , Kanyi was able to defend the constituency against the non-party candidate Momodou K. Sanneh with a large majority. Kanyi was appointed as Minister of Agriculture ( English Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources ).

Kanyi died on an official trip to the UK in September 1968 . He was honored with a state ceremony .
