Amazonas 2 is a television satellite operated by the Spanish satellite operator Hispasat . It primarily provides offers for residents of Latin American countries. The satellite was launched on October 1, 2009 at 21:59  UTC together with the COMSATBw-1 military communications satellite with an Ariane 5 ECA from the Center Spatial Guyanais .

The satellite can be received in North and South America , the transmission takes place in the C and Ku bands .
