It was brought together with Azerspace / Africasat-1a on February 7, 2013 at 21:36 UTC with an Ariane 5 ECA from the launch pad ELA-3 of the CSG in French Guiana into a geotransfer orbit of 247.2 km × 35,914 km. Amazonas 3 was the first of the two satellites to separate from the rocket just 28 minutes after launch and is expected to reach its final geostationary position a few days after launch with the help of its apogee engine .
The three-axis stabilized satellite with 19 C-band -, 33 Ku-band - and nine Ka-band - transponders equipped and will supply from position 61 ° West from America, Europe and northern Africa with telecommunications services.
