Amazonas 4A is a commercial communications satellite owned by Hispasat .
It was on March 22, 2014 22:04 UTC with an Ariane 5 ECA - carrier rocket from the rocket launch site Guiana Space Center in Kourou , together with Astra 5B into a geostationary brought orbit.
The three-axis stabilized satellite with 24 Ku-band - transponders equipped and two 2.5 x 2.7 m sized antennas and is intended on the position of 61 degrees West from the South American Continent of Venezuela and Colombia in the north to Chile and Argentina in the south with communication services , especially to supply television programs. It was built on the basis of the GeoStar 2.4 satellite bus from Orbital Sciences Corporation and has a planned service life of 15 years.
