Amboronabo is a municipality in southern Madagascar . It is administratively subordinate to the Sakaraha district , which in turn belongs to the Atsimo-Andrefana region. At the beginning of the 20th century, Amboronabo was the place of work for Norwegian missionaries , including Olaf Nome . In 2006, about 73,000 inhabitants settled on the 900 square kilometer municipal area, spread over 11 villages and mainly belonging to the Bara ethnic group . The community lives mainly from the cultivation of rice , corn , cassava and, to a lesser extent, peanuts . In addition, many people are engaged in the manufacture of charcoal ; cattle breeding is poorly developed. The security situation in Amboronabo is sometimes tense.
