The Ambovombe district is an administrative unit in the Androy region in southern Madagascar . In 2018, according to the census, it had 362,309 inhabitants, of which 173,925 men and 188,384 women. 65,784 people live in urban settlements and 296,525 people in rural areas. Ambovombe manages an area of 6504 square kilometers, on which the following municipalities are: Ambanisarike , Ambazoa , Ambohimalaza , Ambonaivo , Ambondro , Ambovombe (city) , Ampamata , Andalatanosy , Anjeky-Ankilikira , Ankilibevoa , Antanimora Sud , Imanombo , Erada , Jafaro , Maroalomainty , Maroalopoty , Marovato-Befeno and Sihanamaro .
