Ambrose of Alexandria

Ambrosius of Alexandria († 251 ) was an early church theologian and friend of Origen . He lived in Alexandria during the first half of the third century as a wealthy and respected court official. Initially a follower of one of the Gnostic schools , he was won over to ecclesiastical Christianity through Origen's lectures . He became his friend and patron. Ambrosius got Origen seven fast-pens and seven copyists along with a few calligraphers.

When Origen was exiled to Caesarea in 232 , Ambrose accompanied him, who became a deacon there and was imprisoned as a believer in the Christian faith during the persecution under Maximinus Thrax . Ambrose died in 251, two years before Origen.
