Amedeo Fago (born June 12, 1940 in Rome ) is an Italian production designer and film director .

Life

Fago graduated from the University of Rome with a degree in architecture and then turned to the role of set designer for the theater. From 1967 he also worked for the film industry, where in addition to routine productions he also co-designed works by Marco Bellocchio , Lina Wertmüller and Tito Carpi .

Fago wrote as an author for the theater and, after founding the culturally oriented "Politecnico", also worked as a director of documentary films . In 1985 he made his debut as a feature film director with La donna del traghetto based on his own script, in which Alessandro Haber delivered an impressive study of loneliness. Tra due risvegli followed in 1991 , which was low budgeted and rarely shown. His Giochi d'equilibrio , created in 1998, was viewed as a semi-biography .

Fago is married to the costume designer Lia Morandini and is the brother of the director Giovanni Fago . Since 2004 he has been running the Laura Film Festival with his wife. He is a lecturer at La Sapienza University .
